Job Description - OSS Engineer (Nokia)

OSS Engineer job basically deals with following things:

It include the installation and verification of the NMS-OSS and associated elements ,
Commissioning and running acceptance tests, Site documentation ,Integration with other Network Elements.

The activities would include:

- Coordination with the solution engineer-manager to understand the solution to be offered and customer needs.
- Planning the IP scheme
- Preparing the configuration files to be used during the installation
- Coordinating with Nokia Installation team for installation and initial system start-up and configuration
- Coordinating and updating project manager with current status of the deployment
- Installation of the OSS software
- Configuration of MC service guard for high availability
- Installation and configuration of DNS
- Installation of all required OSS change deliveries
- Installation and configuration of Windows Application Server (WAS)
- Installation and configuration of Meta frame server
- Installation and configuration of other third party software (e. g platypus,WLS etc)
- Installation and configuration of RAC and Reporter software
- Configuration of DCN (Cisco switches and routers)
- Coordination with BSS,NSS,GPRS and other engineers for integration of respective products with OSS
- Integration of DCN with Network elements, OSS servers
- Installation of Omni backup server and auto loader hardware
- Configuration of Omni backup software to perform automatic backups
- Taking the full system backup once the system is up and running
- Installing and configuration of End user seats.
- Troubleshooting and fault rectification in the OSS system
- Documentation according to project procedures
- Site Inventories

NetAct Architecture 5.1 (Nokia) OSS

NetAct releases from OSS5.1 onwards will be running on Linux operating system
on top of x86 compatible server platforms.
The new platform enables easier maintainability of NetAct clusters (less systems to maintain)
thus providing savings in System Administration.
NetAct clusters continue the evolution from a single compact functional entity into scalable cluster
with data-storage and application server functionality separated.
The computing platform is designed to allow the latest technologies within the server, storage and operating system
space to be adapted quickly and transparently.
